Trios 3 exhibited the highest accuracy followed by i500
In a recent in vitro study the accuracy of five leading intraoral scanners (IOSs) was evaluated against conventional polyether impressions for fabricating long-span implant-supported prostheses in maxillary free-ended partial edentulism. The IOSs that assessed were Trios 3, Trios 4 (3Shape), Primescan (Dentsply Sirona), CS 3600 (Carestream Dental), and i-500 (Medit) -
Results highlighted a superior performance of IOSs over traditional methods, with Trios 3 and i-500 showcasing the highest accuracy in terms of trueness and precision. The study found that conventional impressions had a significantly higher mean distance deviation compared to digital scans, emphasizing the reliability and efficiency of IOSs in dental prosthetics.
The research underscores the need for additional in vivo studies to confirm these results in a clinical setting
